Submission Information
“Patrick’s work can best be described as an artistic leap into the abyss of the unknown earthly depths and surfaces. His photographs permeate the monotony of everyday life and give us a glimpse of what lies beyond the comforts of modern reality, where we are often so enabled, our perception of the surrounding world is muffled and lifeless. Wendt’s pieces transcend the extremely delicate boundary between the rapturous and multifaceted beauty of human existence and the ephemeral world of which we all speak, but can never know for sure exists. Seemingly lost in time and space, Patrick captures the quintessence of visual metaphor. Above all, however, his work possesses the ability to immerse the viewer in the almost palpable, often surreal environment and dynamic of numerous corners of the Earth.”

Submission Information
In the foothills of the mighty Himalayas in northern India lies the holy town of Rishikesh. Often referred as the ‘Abode of Gods’, Rishikesh is among the most ancient pilgrimage centres of India. Rishi, meaning “seer,” was a name given to monks living in caves in the surrounding hills, holy men to whom the Vedas (Hindu scriptures) were originally revealed. The area is also referred to as Kubjamrak in the Skanda Purana – the largest Mahapurana, a major Hindu religious text. The history of this town is rich with numerous legends and mythical stories. The name of the town itself is after one of the names of Hindu God, Lord Vishnu.

The sacred river Ganga flows through it providing life and a hope to the people who come here from near and far on a journey to find themselves and seek their true Self. Like the Ganga, our life is also a river: sometimes passing through rapids, sometimes calm and at other times alternating through the phase of dynamism and staccato. In this journey, most of us get lost without even knowing what do we really want from Life and what do we want from our SELF? The Light is always there. All we need is to find it.

Tat Tvam Asi is a Sanskrit phrase which means You are That. The Journey here is a walk through time and space both literally and figuratively as it unwinds my exploration in Rishikesh(Rishi as I call it), my search of what Life is and Who We really are, through visuals and anecdotes. Rishikesh has taught me to be in the moment, connected me to people who I see as my mirrors, has taught me not to give in to the illusions and distractions of the mind and to surrender to the NOW.
This is a long-term personal multimedia narrative and a photo book journey about finding myself in a place far away from the morass and the chaos of a city life reeking of social acceptance and approbation at every single moment forgetting the beauty of the Life around Man. It also talks about the peaceful life and the people of this place that is not just a spiritual haven for devotees of the Hindu Deity, Lord Shiva but also the World Capital of Yoga.

The project is conceived in chapters and they follow a certain minimal aesthetic in mood which reflects the peace that I found here.

I will Bring you to look how to make the keris, not to show the types of kris. Kris is one of the traditional weapons that originated from Indonesia, keris itself has received recognition from UNESCO as a cultural heritage of 2005. Kris has existed since the kingdom of majapahit in the archipelago or Indonesia and spread outside Java, such as sumatra, malaysia, brunai darusalam, Borneo, Philippines (mindano), Bali and West Nusa Tenggara. That’s why there are so many types and motifs on the kris.
I will show one of them, that is keris made in Yogyakarta, Now day’s keris become good art and expensive collection. Why expensive? From long ago until now ,proses of the manufacture is still manual, using people hand without using a machine at all. Creator of Keris in Java is dubbed as KI EMPU or people who are skilled and have experience in making keris, one of which is famous in Yogyakarta is Ki Empu Djeno Harum Berojo.
Keris is made from a selection of iron mixture, nickel and meteorite and then made one after burned and all of them called “saton”. The mixing function is to get a motive or strokes on the kris is also called as “pamor”. Then burned, forged and folded over and over again for weeks to get perfect results and form a dagger. The next stage is finishing the perfection of the form that is done by Ki Empu Harus Brojo.
